The effect of growth media on the aero-stability of Bacillus anthracis spores exposed to simulated solar radiation.

J. Jordan, C. Davies T, Hawkyard.

General purpose bacterial growth media can be used to produce Bacillus spores but these media lack the specific divalent cations added to sporulation media. The UV resistance of Bacillus subtilis can reportedly be influenced by the presence or absence of these divalent cations (1), but it is unknown whether this occurs in B. anthracis.
