Portable real-time detection of airborne asbestos fibres for tradespersons

Analysis of laser light scattering patterns from magnetically aligned fibres in an airflow is used to discriminate between asbestos and non-asbestos fibres in real time.  The method has been developed with the ultimate aim of providing a low-cost warning device to those likely to encounter inadvertent exposure to airborne asbestos.
