How important are local sources and long-range transport of aerosol particles for the IN and CCN concentration in the Arctic?

L. Ickes, C. Hoose, A. Ekman

The appearance of IN and CCN in the Arctic and their vertical distribution is of importance for Arctic low-level mixed-phase clouds. We use a combination of field measurements and regional modeling to derive vertical IN/CCN profiles. The profiles are compared for a situation with predominantly locally emitted aerosol particles to a situation dominated by long-range transport of aerosol particles.
