Human urine as a source of metabolite markers for pulmonary responses to biodiesel exhaust exposure

Pulmonary inflammatory responses are well-documented outcomes of exposure to traffic pollution, but accompanying molecular interactions are less characterised. Contrasting with tissue biopsies, urinalysis offers a non-invasive method for detecting biomarkers of pollution-induced responses.  Performed via metabolomic profiling, such markers could be mechanistically informative.
