The effects of different mechanisms and porosity on deposition on fibrous filters.

Sarah J. Dunnett, Charles F. Clement

A method has been devised to calculate particle deposition on fibres on which there are growing porous deposits. The results of calculations for deposition by diffusion show that the deposit shape and rate of deposition are not affected by porosity. The parameter region where deposition is mainly by interception is found, and here the deposit shape is changed and the deposition rate is increased when the porosity is high enough to allow significant airflow through the deposit.
