The oxidation products formed from the ozonolysis of aerosols containing unsaturated carboxylic acids are highly compound-specific. Water appears to play a key role by forming a homogeneously-mixed aerosol droplet, and directly reacting with the initial oxidation products in competition with other reaction pathways.
