Urban green space has beneficial effects upon air quality. In our study, nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), ozone (O3) and black carbon (BC) are measured as vertical gradients. However, we focused initially to explore the BC as a primary aerosol from anthropogenic sources.
The objective of this work is to understand the role of parkland and other grassed surfaces in removing pollutants and enhancing air quality.
