Significant progress has been made in recent years towards constraining the radiative forcing from aerosol cloud interactions, especially from liquid clouds, although the interaction of aerosols with mixed phase and ice clouds remains highly uncertain. Many different processes may be able to modify the ice crystal number concentration (ICNC) in cold clouds.  In this work we investigate what factors influence the ICNC in these clouds, including the aerosol concentration and the possible influence of ice nucleating particles (INP).
