No evidence for a regional additional source of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) has been identified in measurements of biomass burning-influenced ambient air masses.  A trend of decreasing normalised OA concentrations in aged plumes is observed, indicating a greater influence of OA loss processes, although the extent of any changes with age is consistently exceeded by the variability in initial emissions close to source.
