The focus of aerosol synthesis of materials differs somehow from that of environmental aerosol or combustion science that is typically centered on minimization of aerosol generation by fuel combustion as flame-made aerosols are viewed as nuisance (soot) and the science focus is on understanding the onset and minimization of their production. In contrast, in aerosol synthesis of materials this is the start since maximization of soot production is sought! [1]
